Producing New Literature since 2013

Urban Farmhouse Press is an independent publishing company based in Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan. It was founded in 2013 in Indianapolis by Cheryl Knobel, D.A. Lockhart, and John Powers. The company originated from a literary publication called Read This they begun at Montana State University – Bozeman. UFP initially operated out of an old farmhouse on the east side of Indianapolis.

Urban Farmhouse Press publishes a variety of literary works, including poetry, literary fiction, and chapbooks. We are known for our chapbook series The Cities of the Straits, which honors their base locations of Windsor and Detroit.

As a company, we have published notable works such as the Ford City Workshop Anthology and By the River: New Poetry and Prose from the River Narrows. Our mission is to publish high-quality literature that crosses borders.

Beginning in the fall of 2024, Urban Farmhouse Press undertook the publication of a new literary journal for Waawiiyaatanong, Pitukëna. This is first new print journal from the borderlands for decades.
